On the roof of the church 1905 and 1931 are written, people think they tell the year in which it was built.
After the brief visit of the town, we will go to the museum that is located three kilometers from the city. In the museum, we will find more than one hundred very well preserved mummies belonging to the Chachapoyas culture, found in the cliffs of the Laguna of Los Cóndores in 1997.
We can appreciate that there are two types of funerary bales. The bales with the embroidered face are the oldest and were from the Chachapoya; the studies concluded that the bodies exposed to the sun until they lost the soft tissue and only the bones remained. Then they put it inside a cotton cloth embroidered on its face. In the other type of mummy, you can clearly see the features of the face and the body flexed. Because of the characteristics found, is concluded that these are mummies of the Chachapoya-Inca. When the Incas conquered the Chachapoyas, they removed their mummies and put the ones that corresponded to the new rulers using their technique that was longer but allowed a compact and light mummy.
